Difference between SBS waterproof coiled material and APP waterproof coiled material

June 09,2022

There are a wide variety of waterproof materials in the external wall waterproofing of engineering buildings, including asphalt waterproof coiled material, polymer modified asphalt waterproof coiled material and synthetic polymer waterproof coiled material. At this stage, the most commonly used waterproof materials in the field are SBS waterproof coiled materials and APP waterproof coiled materials in polymer modified asphalt waterproof coiled materials.

What is the difference between them?

SBS modified asphalt waterproof coiled materials SBS waterproof coiled materials are coated with high polymer modified asphalt, with polyester fabric as embryo, powder granular, block or plastic film raw materials as waterproof coiled material sandwich surface. It is mainly used for damp proofing of the top surface of buildings, villas, basements, natatoriums, tunnel construction or underground garages. SBS features: corrosion resistance and application resistance, and its ductility and ultra-low temperature moisture resistance are higher than other products, especially in the middle of its reasonable temperature from minus 25 ℃ to 100 ℃ above zero, it has good fatigue relief and fiber cracking resistance.
APP modified asphalt waterproof coiled material the full name of APP waterproof coiled material is plastic modified asphalt waterproof coiled material, which is also coated with high polymer modified asphalt, with polyester fabric as embryo, powder granular, block or plastic film raw materials as waterproof coiled material sandwich surface. However, organic chemical polymers such as irregular polypropylene or isoprene rubber polymers are used as modified materials of asphalt and waterproof materials covered by insulating layers on both sides. Therefore, it can be seen from here that they are slightly different. App features: it also has good ductility, especially in the properties of its modified materials. Therefore, it is much better than other waterproof coiled materials in terms of UV resistance. Its softening point is above 150 ℃ at high temperature, and its spontaneous ignition point is 265 ℃, so it has outstanding high temperature resistance. However, its minimum application temperature is minus 15 ℃, so its utilization rate in severe cold regions is not very wide.

Difference between SBS and APP waterproof coiled material APP waterproof coiled material has stronger resistance to fatigue under long-term direct exposure of high temperature and ultraviolet light.

The SBS waterproof coiled material has good drought resistance under ultra-low temperature, and can avoid the cracks caused by ultra-low temperature. Therefore, SBS waterproof materials are used most in the severe cold North China, while APP waterproof materials are used most in the high-temperature coastal areas.
